Commander Kevin Raymond is a 1986 graduate of East Jordan High School located in East Jordan, Michigan. He graduated with honors from the Southern Police Institute (SPI) located in Louisville, Kentucky in November of 2008.
After graduating high school, Commander Raymond joined the United States Air Force in February of 1987 where he served four years before receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of Sergeant. While serving in the Air Force at Keesler AFB, Commander Raymond joined the Biloxi Police Reserves in May of 1990 before being hired full time as a sworn police officer in 1991.
Commander Raymond joined the Gulfport Police Department in April of 1993. In August of 1995, he was appointed the rank of Field Supervisor assigned to the patrol division. In November of 1997, Commander Raymond was promoted to the rank of Detective assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. In July of 2000, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was transferred back to the patrol division. In January of 2003, Commander Raymond was promoted to the rank of Detective Sergeant assigned to the Professional Standards Unit. In March of 2006, he was promoted to the rank of Detective Lieutenant and assigned as the Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Professional Standards Unit.
On July 13, 2009, Chief of Police Alan Weatherford promoted Kevin Raymond to the rank of Commander over the Operation’s Bureau where he is responsible for the following units:
