Commander Rick Fisher has had the privilege to serve the Gulfport Police Department since January 1994. During his career he has served the Gulfport Police Department in the Patrol Division, Detective Division, Special Investigative Services Division, and Professional Standards Unit.
Commander Fisher began his law enforcement career with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office in 1987. He then joined the Long Beach Police Department in 1989 as a Patrol Officer.
Commander Fisher is a life-long resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He graduated from Long Beach High School in 1987. He is a 1990 graduate of the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy at the University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach. In 1993 he graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice. He is also a 2010 graduate of the Southern Police Institute’s Administrative Officers Course from the University of Louisville, Louisville, KY. He has completed numerous Law Enforcement training courses during his career, specializing in Financial Crimes, Crime Analysis and Intelligence fields. Commander Fisher has also served on the board of nationally recognized Law Enforcement Associations.
