What is G.R.E.A.T. Family Partnership?

G.R.E.A.T. Families is a research-based family strengthening program consisting on a family-oriented community resource guide as well as six facilitated sessions. These sessions use group interaction, activities, and skills practice to engage parents and children, ages 10-14, with the goal of fostering positive family functioning.

How will G.R.E.A.T. Family Partnership help your family?

Each of the six sessions cover a variety of general family issues using the tips, techniques, and skills practice to:

  • Build communication skills
  • Create positive family relationships
  • Help parents become better role models
  • Develop a plan of action for change
  • Create a foundation for growth as a family
  • Raise awareness about the influences of the media and internet

How much of a commitment does your family need to make?

As a general guideline, we encourage families to attend all six sessions. Each session contains a lot of information that will be useful to you and your children.

How will G.R.E.A.T. Family Partnership help your family?

G.R.E.A.T. Families involves children in this age range because it is a critical time for decision-making and when communication is most important. This will help your children make better choices when decisions become more difficult and you are not around to guide them. The skills you and your children will learn in G.R.E.A.T. Families will be beneficial for all of your children. Not only will it help communication, it will make your older children positive role models for the younger ones.
