2010 Summer Programs

PAL SUMMER LEARNING PROGRAM (AGES 6-12)
PAL Summer Learning Program for children ages 6-12. Participation in this program will be five days a week from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the Gulfport PAL and Bayou View site and 8:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Ramsey Church site. This program runs from May 25 – July 30 (tentative). This program has a three point purpose; Academic Tutoring, Sports, Life Skills. Participation in this program requires the child to attend every day with few excused exceptions. Children will be tutored by licensed teachers and taught life skills by Gulfport Police Officers such as conflict resolution and Substance Abuse. The City of Gulfport’s Leisure Services department is co-sponsoring these sites by providing athletic coordinators and arts and crafts coordinators.
This program is a great opportunity to a boring summer and as with every program offered by the Gulfport Police Department it is free of charge.

HOOK A KID ON GOLF (AGES 8-13)
Hook a Kid on Golf Camps for children ages 8-13. As part of a tee level clinic, each youngster is provided with a new starter set of golf clubs and other golf items needed to begin to learn the game. Participants are taught swing fundamentals, rules and etiquette, drug and alcohol awareness and golf course maintenance. At the end of the clinic, youngsters get to keep their clubs and other materials. All Clinics will be held at Pine Bayou Golf Course located on the CB Base from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
